Senior Sales Representative/Associate

Orbital Insight, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Sales Representative/Associate to join our Japan Sales team. In this role, you will be expected to develop and execute an effective sales strategy and increase revenue through new and existing sales opportunities within the Japanese market. You will drive new solutions using Orbital Insight’s ground-breaking technologies to solve large problems within this market. 

To succeed in this role, you will need to be a problem solver, entrepreneurial, new revenue focused and you must have an understanding of consultative solution selling.  You will be expected to draw on your keen sales abilities to tailor a pitch to each specific prospect you uncover, providing a consultative sales approach as you learn about the potential client, discuss specific solutions, and demonstrate our applications and solutions.  You must be capable of working within a highly motivated team to drive the business forward as you will also work closely with the combined groups of Sales Engineering, Product Management, Development and Engineering to ensure consistency of execution. 

The world is a very big place. With a single photograph of Earth, like the famous “Blue Marble” from Apollo 17, the entire world can fit on a computer screen. However, with this image you would not be able to see much detail. To see the Earth and all of its rich features, you would need a lot more images. In fact it would take over 500 million images just to observe the land area of Earth at 1 meter pixel resolution. 

In order to see detail and work at scale, we use computer vision and machine learning. Using convolutional neural networks, we have counted over 3 billion cars across global roads and parking lots, analyzing commercial patterns as well as city growth and development. Our global energy product uses computer vision to map floating roof oil tanks and measure the global volumes of crude oil. With this product, we were able to show that China has 200 million barrels of oil storage capacity that was unknown even to the trading community. Other projects include tracking rates of deforestation, measuring poverty levels around the globe, monitoring construction rates of new roads and buildings, and predicting crop yields. This is still the beginning of our mission to understand the Earth. 

This position will be based in our Tokyo Office and will report to the General Manager of Japan.

Job Duties

  • Develop a sales strategy and increase revenue through new and existing sales opportunities
  • Drive data sales to mid and large firms across multiple commercial verticals
  • Develop, negotiate, and maintain strategic partnerships, alliances, and relationships

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, or Marketing
  • 7 – 10 years of progressive sales experience in Japan
  • Fluency in Japanese
  • Expertise in consultative selling and problem solving
  • Knowledge of finance, energy, and insurance –  are not a priority but highly regarded       
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent prospecting and networking skills
  • Experience with Statistics and Analysis not a priority but highly regarded
