Description

Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Director of Solutions Engineering will oversee the Solutions Engineering team responsible for working directly with customers to prototype and implement technical solutions to meet business objectives. You oversee many small teams operating with minimal supervision and own the execution of our Solutions Engineering projects from beginning to end.


Responsibilities

  • Give operational guidance and technical oversight to the Solutions Engineering team.
  • Work with the Director of Operations on the strategic direction of the team to include the mission of the organization, annual operating plan, budgets, headcount, tooling and training requirements.
  • Mentor and train the Solutions Engineering team on user-centered design thinking, project management, technical implementation, and best practices.
  • Be a thought leader within the organization on how the GO platform drives quantifiable business results for our customers and drive discussion on the opportunities for development and expansion of our product line based on observations in our customer base.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for the Solutions Engineering team.
  • Oversee the creation and delivery of technical presentations and proof of concepts (POCs)  to our customers.
  • Own the responsibility for the team’s successful end-to-end execution of solution engineering deliverables for our most important customers.
  • Oversee and drive best practices for code development, maintenance, and sharing.
  • Track and report the status of Solution Engineering activities to the Senior Director of Operations and Executive Staff.
  • Collaborate with software engineering on architecture and technical implementation details regarding proof of concept delivery.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to drive the strategy of our accounts, including assistance with technical volumes in proposals, demo creation for upsell and expansion opportunities, and ideation  of novel POCs.
  • Collect product feedback on successful solutions, uses of our product, and challenges to feed into our product feedback cycle.
  • Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in a customer-facing, pre-sales, solutions engineering, or field engineering role
  • 5+ years leadership experience in building and managing high performing teams
  • 2+ years experience in remote sensing or GIS related field 
  • Experience using CRM tools like Salesforce as a productivity and management solution
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field  (engineering, physics, computer science, etc.) or equivalent experience Experience using GIS tools (i.e. QGIS, ArcGIS, etc)
  • Proficiency with Python
  • US Citizenship with an desire and ability to be granted a US Security Clearance 
  • Preferred
  • Experience with SAAS solution delivery to the US Intelligence Community
  • Experience working with EO, IR, SAR satellite data
  • Experience with telemetry data
