Description

This role requires the candidate to lead the Program Management team within Orbital Insight. This includes guiding the strategic direction of the team, mentoring and managing the Program Management staff, development and implementation of Program Management policies, procedures, and workflows, and ensuring the success of the company’s most important programs in both the commercial and public sector. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to help drive a growing capability at our company and set the tone for successful delivery of advanced geospatial capability to our most important customers.
This opening is for a full time position and will report to the Senior Director of Operations. This position can be located in Washington D.C., NYC, Palo Alto CA, or be remote.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads the Program Management team to include the management and mentorship of the staff
  • Provides input and guidance on the annual, quarterly, and sprint goals of the Program Management team, assumes ownership of execution as needed for a portion of these goals
  • Responsible for overseeing the overall program execution and performance of projects 
  • Partners with leadership from solution engineering, revenue, engineering, and product to scope workflows and procedures as it pertains to Program Management
  • Works with various stakeholders to scope and deliver to contract terms
  • Assists in the development of program management templates to achieve technical, schedule, cost and quality commitments, maintains these on their assigned programs 
  • Reviews and reports to senior leadership, program status and milestones, identifying gaps, actively sharing insights and making recommendations to ensure execution and on-time delivery of all of our programs
  • Utilizes “systems thinking” by understanding complex, technical deliveries, inherent and potential risks, coordination among disciplines, and where applicable, handling negotiation of tradeoffs with professional maturity
  • Ensures Program Managers are reporting all issues or concerns that may impact schedule, performance, scope creep or cost, where applicable. Assists in identification of risk areas and risk mitigation approaches
  • Participates in both external and internal program reviews and meetings
  • Leads development of best practices for project and program documentation on processes, workflows, and communication standards.
  • Qualifications

  • PMP certification
  • 12+ years experience Program or Project Management, five of which being at a SAAS company
  • Experience with one or more program management software tools (Asana, Monday, Microsoft Project, etc) 
  • Detail and results oriented, with demonstrated experience managing multiple complex tasks at once 
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills, with experience running cross-organizational projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage trade-offs and evaluate plans with internal and external partners
  • High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • History of teamwork and willingness to dive into a task to get the job done
  • Ability to think strategically about how Program Management contributes to the overall strategy and success of Orbital Insight and give advice on best practices and initiatives to meet the goals of the business
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Able to perform duties independently
  • Able to manage time and priorities effectively to meet the deadlines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
