Description

Within the Content Organization at Orbital Insight, the Content Operations Team is charged with creating and maintaining foundational data layers for our products. We are hiring for a Project Manager position to plan and coordinate the success of our data creation campaigns. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the curation of computer vision ground truth datasets by working closely with GIS technicians and computer vision specialists. In addition, this position will be assigned as the point of contact for client contracts and responsible for ensuring the Content team fulfills our obligations for the contract. You will be in charge of coordinating with the Director of the Content team on priorities, scope, feasibility, and timelines for contracts you are responsible for. You will also liaise with internal customers of this data including computer vision engineers, data scientists, solutions engineers, and product managers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with director of Content on project assignments and priorities
  • Works with various stakeholders to scope time, budget and expected outcomes for given projects
  • Partners with solution engineers, account managers, customer success, engineering, and product to develop or utilize workflows and procedures as it pertains to Content team
  • Oversee the data labeling process of contractors and outsourced teams- ensuring adherence to timeline, budget and quality standards
  • Participate in small scale data creation campaigns- labeling satellite imagery or creating Areas of Interest
  • Attend client calls and represent the content team to ensure we are meeting client expectations for data creation
  • Reports all issues or concerns that may impact schedule, performance, scope creep or cost, where applicable. Identifies risk areas and develops risk mitigation approaches
  • Participate in creation of team backlogs
  • Responsible for managing overall project execution and performance
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Natural Resources, or science or technology field with significant application in GIS, or an equivalent combination of GIS experience and knowledge. 
  • Experience working with geospatial data, especially imagery (satellite, aerial, UAV, and others), familiar with identifying objects of interest in remote sensing data
  • Experience with QGIS and deep understanding of GIS tooling and standards
  • Ability to understand and focus on high level goals
  • Have a strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to coordinate with different teams and stakeholders located across the globe
  • Able to manage time and priorities effectively to meet the deadlines (with help from direct manager)
  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently
  • US Citizenship required
  • Preferred Skills

  • Experience with the Atlassian stack (JIRA, Confluence) preferred
  • Experience with multiple common GIS tools (ESRI, QGIS, Google Earth)
  • Experience working with teams and stakeholders located across the globe
  • Experience in Python
