Sr. Software Engineer - Core Modules




Orbital Insight analyzes billions of geospatial data points to provide valuable insights and empower users to query the world. We ingest different kinds of geospatial data and produce observational truth. Pixels and pings are fed into deep learning models to produce numbers. Numbers are modeled, aggregated, and transformed into meaningful insights. This entire pipeline is formulated, created, monitored, and managed by you. Experience working at scale is pretty darned important.

  • Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data processing pipelines to handle large amounts of geospatial data; write code for automating complex geospatial requests
  • Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems that power Orbital Insight’s Apps and various end customer use cases
  • Design, code, test, deploy, maintain and own scalable microservice(s)
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, including code and design reviews
  • Work together with geographically dispersed cross-functional teams
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • 5+  total years of industry experience as a Software engineer
  • 4+ years experience with Python or other similar language
  • 3+ years experience working on large scale, production systems
  • 3+ years experience working with microservices or other service based architectures
  • Experience working on building core modules and infrastructure to be used across services is a major plus
  • Knowledge and experience with Spark, Argo Workflows, Redis, Kubernetes and Docker is a major plus
